Modelling service semantics for discovery and integration

The service oriented computing paradigm has brought about several new challenges in software engineering. Services should be discoverable, interoperable and composable to allow for the rapid integration of existing software systems. This requires a precise and unambiguous specification of services and their semantics. In this talk I will present a conceptual framework for modeling services, which was developed in the Freeband A-Muse project. The framework considers the structural, behavioural and information aspects of service semantics. It also allows for the specification of goals and capabilities for discovery purposes. In addition to the framework itself, I will present how it can be applied to design a composition of existing services.
