A simple nonlinear non-iterative operator that adds a painting effect to an image is proposed.

Results of the proposed operator for a large set of images, in comparison with other well-known edge preserving smoothers, are available here

The Matlab code that implements the proposed operator is available here. Every non-commercial use of this softer is permitted. Work based on it should credit the above mentioned paper (BibTex)
