The determination of the position of the extrumumn of a continuous correlator fuction from its samples, if the spectrum of the correlator is not band-limited, is still an unsolved problem. Searching for the position of the extremum by fitting a parabola through three samples around the extremum leads to clustering of the estimates around values corresponding with the sampling moments.
