Keynote Speakers
Joost Batenburg

Joost Batenburg
Joost Batenburg is a professor at LIACS and his chair is Imaging and Visualization. He is also affiliated with the CWI and is program director of the interdisciplinary research programme Society, Artificial Intelligence and Life Sciences (SAILS). He published more than 80 journal articles and more than 60 conference papers in the field of tomographic image processing and reconstruction.
From 2013 till 2017 he chaired the EU COST Action EXTREMA on advanced X-ray tomography. He pioneered the field of discrete tomography, developing the first large-scale reconstruction methods.
His current research focuses on creating real-time 3D imaging systems that can acquire data, perform analysis, and make intelligent decisions on how to proceed, all in an integrated workflow.
Beatriz Marcotegui

Beatriz Marcotegui
Beatriz Marcotegui studied Telecommunications Engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, with a Ph.D. in Mathematical Morphology from the École des Mines de Paris. Served as an Associate Professor at the Public University of Navarre for two years, teaching signal processing and developing a visual speech system. Since 1998, has been a Researcher and Professor at the École des Mines de Paris, specializing in image analysis with a particular focus on image segmentation. In 2006, began working on LiDAR data analysis (3D point clouds), developing semantic segmentation algorithms. These algorithms transform unstructured spatial coordinates, acquired by LiDAR scanners, into semantic entities essential for real-world applications. In 2015, co-founded the startup Terra3D, bringing academic algorithms to industry.
