  1. Boot from external USB drive

    [Warning]Warning

    This fails most of the time. I tried to boot several PCs from this external USB drive, and only three out of eight would boot from it. Some wouldn't even boot at all as long as the drive was connected.

    On computers that show more information than just 'external USB drive', my drive is called 'Eminent Turbo Harddisk'.

  2. DHCP?

    I provide /etc/network/interfaces for DHCP. But just in case there isn't a DHCP server, I create /etc/network/interfaces.static If is the job of the admin to switch between the two.

  3. Time zone

    To put the machine in the Kabul timezone:

    root@afmirror:/# sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
