Yet on Ubuntu Precise, one can put the package in a repository and just say:

apt-get install icaclient

. On a 64-bit architecture, apt will conclude that there's only a 32-bit version available, and happily pull in all the 32-bit dependencies. And then it'll run. Until it doesn't.
