Introduction

As it appears now, we configured our Samba server too hastily, and didn't do enough testing. It had multiple issues, with symlinks (see ), locking ( and ), permissions (), and extended attributes (). Some of these issues have been resolved, and some haven't. This section is the documentation of a search for better smb.conf settings. Ultimately, we want to be able to compile things on a Samba filesystem, hence the title.
